Where you will be staying
Mary Cottage has been sympathetically renovated and feels warm and cosy as soon as you step through the door. Original features such as the staircase and the old range give you a sense of the cottage's age. Located in the heart of the historic village of Garmouth, Mary Cottage is well-equipped, offering 2 bedrooms (one with a king-size bed, the 2nd with twin beds which can come together to make a double), a well laid out kitchen/diner, 2 sitting rooms (one with direct access to the garden and a sofa bed), bathroom with shower over the bath, a large boot room (great for muddy feet and dogs) a cloakroom and an enclosed rear garden which is mostly laid to grass.
High Speed WiFi is available throughout the cottage, as well as off-road parking for one small vehicle.
Mary Cottage is in the heart of the historic village of Garmouth, NE Scotland and close to the mouth of the River Spey, renowned for its salmon fishing and where the Spey flows into the Moray Firth. Garmouth is also the location of Maggie Fair, one of the longest, surviving village fairs in the country, dating back to 1587 and also home to the Speyside Coffee Roasting Co. and cafe. Across the Spey, over the Spey viaduct you will find Spey Bay and the WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre. Two golf courses flank either side of the Spey with more link courses to challenge yourself along the coast in either direction. There are also over 50 whisky distilleries in Speyside and the Malt Whisky Trail (MWT)!
Garmouth is well placed for walking, hiking, cycling, fishing, birdwatching and golfing, to name but a few outdoor pursuits; with the Speyside Way, links golf courses, and the National Cycle Network all nearby.
Travel a little further afield and you are surrounded by renowned food and drink names; Baxters (Fochabers), Walkers Shortbread (Elgin/Aberlour), and not forgetting the Malt Whisky Trail (MWT).
* Please Note: The cottage has reduced head height on the first floor (6'2"), the stairs are original and 2/3rds the width of a standard tread and the old range is decorative only and not in use.
